Monopole, café et buvette

When starting a new job, the most important thing (in the first three months) is to evaluate whether the gig is the right fit in your career path. Do you like the company’s culture? Do you believe in their mission? Are your responsibilities right for your set of skills? Is there room for growth? What will you be gaining when it comes to experience?

While you assess all of that, the SECOND most important thing is to identify all of the coffee spots in the area because let’s be honest, office coffee might be free but it’s not as good as the ones prepared by a passionate barista. Luckily, the one I discovered and fell in love with is not too far from my office. It’s right across the street!

Be Kind, Buy Local

Credit: BKIND Products

Last year, I decided to explore and support more local brands as I saw too many businesses go bankrupt and close their doors in Montreal. It’s not easy these days, and local entrepreneurs and creatives need all the support they can get. After all, it’s not just a business for them, it’s also a dream.

My coffee addiction and determination to use more cruelty-free products whenever I can lead me to this beauty brand called BKIND Products. It’s local, cruelty-free, uses natural ingredients and has a coffee body scrub. I was sold!

Frank Body, a Coffee-based Skincare Review

Warning: May contain nuts! Really!

Sweet Cheeks Bundle“Coffee-based skincare that rubs you the right way.” – Frank Body

If that doesn’t catch your attention, try navigating Frank Body’s website or swipe through their pictures on Instagram!

In early May, I had written about my impression of my first Frank Body order (click here to read the unboxing). I was convinced by my friend S to give this Australian beauty brand a try because the cold weather in Montreal had left my skin unpleasantly dry. Normally, this type of topic doesn’t quite belong on my blog but since the complete product line is coffee-based, I made it an acceptable exception. It IS coffee after all.

My Little Cup

My Little CupI haven’t had the chance to visit any new coffee spots lately. However, there is one in particular that I walk by every morning on my way to work that caught my attention ever since the renovations began for its new installation. My Little Cup opened some time around January or early February of this year. It didn’t take long before professionals working in the area would line up every day for an espresso and some freshly baked goods. Why did it take me 4 months to finally give it a try?

I was early for work last week which is something very rare for me (ah, maybe that’s why it took 4 months). There were only two people standing at the counter so I thought: “Here’s my chance to finally try their coffee! I won’t have to wait too long.” I was right. It took less than 5 minutes for the barista to finish the two orders before making my cappuccino. During that time, at least four other people walked up to the counter for their morning coffee.

“Unboxing” Frank Body

When you live in Montreal, one of the few things that you need to get used to is the weather. Though it’s winter (or feels like it) practically six month out of the year, sometimes you go through all four seasons within the same day: brisk rain in the morning, hot afternoon, chilly in the evening and snowy throughout the night. When that happens, your skin can suffer from the drastic change and that’s what has been happening the past couple of months.

While my friend S and I were sharing our latest beauty regiments that helped us with our dry skin, she mentioned Frank Body‘s body scrub. You must wonder why I’m mentioning this product in my blog. It doesn’t have anything to do with books or drinking coffee. Well, Frank Body is actually an Australian coffee-based skincare that targets cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions. Aside from the fact that I love trying new beauty products, Frank Body is coffee-based. I cannot NOT try some of its products. Also, did I mention that everything is cruelty-free? :)
